Ever since the end of March 2004, the LIECHTENSTEIN MUSEUM in Vienna has presented a selection of exquisite masterpieces of European art from the foremost private collection in the world, the Collection of Prince Hans-Adam II von und zu Liechtenstein. This culmination of intelligent collecting over many generations is now accessible to all in the restored summer palace in Rossau as a all-encompassing Baroque experience.

As soon as the visitor enters the spacious sala terrena the magic casts its spell at first sight of the Golden Carriage of Prince Jospeh Wenzel von Liechtenstein (1696–1772). The Neo-classical library with the colourful frescoes by Johann Michael Rottmays (1654–1730) and the Herkules Hall are further highlights of the museum tour. The ceiling of the Herkules Hall, the largest secular Baroque hall in Vienna and now used for top-class concerts and events, is adorned with Andrea Pozzo’s (1704–1708) monumental fresco, which opens up a stunning vista into the Olympian heights of the gods.
